ABOUT THE ARTIST
Sylvia Inga Bueltel
Sylvia was born in Warsaw, Poland and moved to the United States at a young age with her family. She was constantly surrounded by her non-related relatives of the Minneapolis Polish community, who felt closer than family. At age 18, she moved from her home in Minneapolis to the great city of Chicago, where she studied Fine Arts: Drawing and Painting at Loyola University Chicago. This closeness with her Polish community has continued throughout her college experience and has affected much of her art, especially when her wujek (uncle) passed away. This grief and pain sparked a strong desire to create and a greater purpose to her art. Since graduation she has continued making art about her experiences in life, however beautiful or painful they may be.
